About the PTSO
A volunteer group, and not much more than that.
We're parents, teachers and students who decided to help. No staff, no office, no budget beyond what we raise. Everything below is a volunteer job somebody is doing around their own work and family.
What we do
Fund it, staff it, or say thank you for it
The PTSO exists to enhance the educational experience for students and staff at Severn River Middle School. In practice that means three things: raising money for programs the school budget doesn’t cover, putting volunteers where the school needs hands, and making sure teachers and staff know they’re appreciated.
Your time and your contributions are what make that possible. There is no version of this that works without families showing up.

Every one of these comes with a handover, a board that helps, and no expectation that you do it perfectly. If one catches your eye, get in touch — you are not committing to anything by asking.

Take minutes at meetings and keep the records straight. With four meetings a year, this is a genuinely small job.
A few hours a month
Membership
Track sign-ups and make sure new families know how to join. Mostly a spreadsheet and a few emails.
Project-based
Green Team
Run recycling and sustainability projects with students. As big or small as you want to make it.

Be the friendly point of contact for sixth grade families — the ones with the most questions.
